Gary Reed wins Silver at World Championships!
Victoria 800m runner, Gary Reed, ran a perfectly timed race to almost steal the win from a star studded field of the worlds best middle distance runners. Gary lead for 799m of the 800m race before being outleaned at the line by Alfred Kirwa Yego of Kenya by just 0.01 of a second! The entire field finished within 0.49 seconds of each other.
2007 Track and Field World Championships
The 2007 World Track and Field Championships get underway August 25th in Osaka, Japan. Most of Canada's top track and field athletes are there including Victorian Gary Reed who is a serious medal contender in the mens 800m. Gary is currently ranked #5 in the world and gets underway with his racing on August 30th. Gary won the 800m at this years Victoria Internation Track Classic at Uvic's Centennial Stadium.
